Off to Altoona again this afternoon for Becky's American wedding (re: wedding re-enactment).  Feels like I've been living in my car the past few months.  Some people have asked me about living in Scranton, but the truth is, I've barely been here long enough to know yet.  Btw, Brad is launching his church on Sept. 7th, and there's a lot to be done before the first service, so prayers would be appreciated.

Speaking of which, God's been teaching me a lot the past few months about prayer.  I've been meaning to write some of these lessons down (although I have e-mailed some prayer-related comments to a few of you).  You'd think, being unemployed, that I'd have nothing but time....

Almost finished packing for my move to Scranton, PA on the 24th.  This is way ahead of schedule for me (finishing up days instead of hours?), so instead of actually finishing up tonight, I'm stealing a few hours to go online, catch up on my e-mails, and hang out at Liberty while I still can.  I mention this partly b/c I'm trying to access Thomas Road's website to see what's on tap for the evening service tomorrow, and the Liberty network won't let me access it.  I can access sub-menus, but when I try to reach the home page, I keep getting blocked.  This is so typical of Liberty, it makes me smile....

So for those of you who don't have all the details, here are a few....I'm heading to Scranton to help my best friend and former Liberty roommate, Brad, get his church started.  I say "get it started" b/c, after a few more weeks of praying about this whole move, I've really sensed that my calling is primarily to come along side Brad and help him get the ball rolling.  At this point, I haven't sensed a calling to Scranton, per se, or even to the church.  But I've clearly and repeatedly sensed the Spirit saying to my spirit, "Go help Brad."

So, after a few more conversations w/ Brad this past week, we've decided that we're going to make this a 6-month deal  Brad is launching in September, and is going to hold "preview services" through the end of the year.  I'll primarily be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading those services.  Beyond that...only time will tell.  We'll sit down in December and see where and how the Spirit is leading, and go from there.

It sounds a little crazy to make such a big move for what might prove to be a short period of time.  But I have a strong peace about this leading, and I'm actually more excited than anxious to see what God is up to.  I was watching Ed Young, Jr. this morning, and he was talking about Joseph and being "in the pit."  He several times made a comment to the effect that "God is preparing you for what God has prepared for you."  That pretty much sums up the past two years of my life.

Incidentally, I've spent a lot of time today (while packing today) listening to a sermon series Francis Chan did last year on the Holy Spirit.  I had never even heard of Chan until a conversation I had w/ Brad a few days ago, but this sermon series is awesome - again, it really sums up a lot of what God has been revealing to me about Himself over the past few years.  You can check out the sermon series here, under "media":  http://www.francischan.org/
